40 ft high-bed trailer hire

A 40 ft high-bed flatbed is the vehicle most industrial loads travel on. The deck is flat, open on all sides, and sits at normal chassis height — so anything a crane or a forklift can place on it is a candidate.

It is the trailer we use most, and the one most of the photographs on this site show.

When you need this trailer

  • Structural steel and fabricated sections

    Structural steel and fabricated sections

Beams, columns and fabricated assemblies going to site. Long items can overhang, which changes how the load is marked and sometimes whether it needs a permit.

  • Large-diameter pipe

    Large-diameter pipe

Pipe is stacked and chained so it cannot roll or shift. The stack has to be built properly — this is where experience shows.

  • Tanks and bulky light cargo

    Tanks and bulky light cargo

Moulded tanks and similar take up the whole deck without reaching the weight limit. The job is bulk and securing, not tonnage.

  • Crated and palletised export cargo

    Crated and palletised export cargo

Crates and pallets, sheeted and lashed. We run container-yard work at night when the yard's timings call for it.

Specifications

Specifications on request. Deck length, deck height and payload vary between vehicles, and the figure that matters depends on your cargo. Call us with the load and we will give you the exact dimensions of the vehicle we would send.

What we will ask when you call

  1. Where it is loading and where it is going.
  2. What the cargo is and roughly what it weighs.
  3. Its dimensions — especially height.
  4. How it will be loaded: crane, forklift, or driven on.
  5. When you need it.

If you do not know all of it yet, call anyway. We would rather start the conversation than wait for a complete spec.

FAQ

Questions about this trailer

What is the difference between a high-bed and a low-bed trailer?

A high-bed has a flat deck at normal chassis height, which suits anything craned or forklifted on. A low-bed sits much lower so tall or self-propelled plant can travel within height limits. If your cargo is tall or drives on under its own power, you probably need a low-bed or semi-low-bed.

Can you carry over-length loads on a high-bed?

Sometimes, with overhang properly marked and the right permissions. Send the dimensions with your enquiry and we will tell you whether it can travel as-is or needs a different vehicle.

Tell us about the load

Enquiries welcome any day. Calling is quickest — tell us the load and we can usually say straight away whether we have a vehicle for it.
